About Chinese Zodiac

A small, independent set of free tools that answers Chinese zodiac questions accurately and explains traditional ideas in plain English.

Why this site exists

Most zodiac charts list one animal per Gregorian year. That is wrong for anyone born before Chinese New Year, which moves between January 21 and February 20. We built a finder that checks the exact date, then built the other tools on the same foundation so they always agree.

Our sources and methods

Calendar. Chinese New Year dates for 1924–2036 come from the Hong Kong Observatory’s Gregorian–Lunar calendar conversion tables (table version hko-boundaries-v1). Dates are compared as plain calendar dates, so time zones never change the answer.

Relationships. Compatibility and Tai Sui use a published folk rule set (folk_year_sign_v1): Six Harmonies, Three Harmonies, clash, harm, break and a pairwise form of punishment. We name the rule set on every result because traditions differ.

Horoscopes. Readings are cultural and editorial. They are drafted with AI assistance, checked against style rules (no percentages, no health or money predictions, no fear language) and published as fixed, dated editions, so they never change when you refresh.

What we don’t do

We don’t calculate Four Pillars (Bazi) charts, give feng shui advice or predict events. For questions or corrections, see Email Support.
